When is the best time of year for an African Safari?

Posted by on July 17, 2020

Although many of us are not able or not happy to travel too far for a holiday this year, that does not mean you cannot start to plan for next year. An African Safari is often a once in a lifetime opportunity that should not be missed. It is said to be one of the most amazing types of holidays you can go on.

Depending on what type of safari you want to do and what animals you wish to see will help you decide on what time of the year to visit South Africa. During the months of May through to September, is the dry season. This is actually classed as their winter as although it is dry, the temperature drops during this period. There is virtually no rainfall during this winter period therefore animals often gather around predictable water sources, making them easier to find  and more predictable on a safari trip.

The summer months are usually April through to October and although this time of year can be very hot it is also often quite wet. This can attract different wildlife to the area but also with the vegetation thriving in these conditions, make it harder to spot some of the animals.
