Working as a safari guide

Posted by on April 12, 2016

The job of a safari guide is not an easy one but can be very rewarding. You will be expected to work long hours and often will need to get up very early in the morning to prepare for and take out your group of safari goers. It take many years to become an experienced safari tour guide and for the majority of your first few years, you will be teamed up with someone else learning the daily routines and the usually movement and behaviour of the animals.

You need to be well organised, work well with other people and with animals. You should have a passion in working with the public and a positive attitude. Often experience isn’t necessary as you will learn from another tour guide but willingness to learn is essential. The call of safari tour guides is on the increase as more and more African nations build infrastructures to attract tourism.
